Mmm Mmm Good

Have you any of you seen the above?
I saw this in our supermarket the other day and decided I must give it a try.
Must is a strong word. Why did I feel I must try it?
1. It is certified USDA Organic (organic is a good thing)
2. It looked like Fruit by the Foot, which I love, only with actual fruit in it.
3. I like U’s that have an unmlaut over them (umlaut=the German word for two little dots appearing above a vowel)
4. There are monkeys on the box. I have a thing for monkeys. Monkey=must try
So I did, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE these little Fruit Twirls.
Unfortunately they are about $4 for a box of six. In my opinion this is a bit on the expensive side.
I suppose since they are organic and made with real fruit, people who have money will be willing to pay for them though.
And since my kids didn’t like them (go figure), when I do find occasion to buy them they will be all MINE!

Things I said I’d never do as a mother
Before: Listen to “mom” music
Now: The light FM station is the one my car is always tuned too.
Before: Put hot sauce or soap on my children’s tongues.
Now: Well, they do say the punishment should fit the crime. (guilty as charged)
Before: Use the word, potty (Don’t really know why but I hated the way it sounded, actually still do)
Now: My house is full of “potty” talk
Before: Let my children run around sans clothing all day long
Now: Well, somedays I can barely even get myself dressed
Before: Yell at them
Now: I won’t believe you if you say you haven’t
Before: Let them throw a temper tantrum
Now: Those who expect you to have complete control over your children, have never had children
What have you done as a mother that you once said you never would?

Tasty Thursday - Potato Chowder

I’ve just discovered Tasty Thursday over at The Pumpkin Patch and since I’m always looking to exchange great recipes I thought I’d participate.
Potato Chowder
8 cups diced red potatoes
1/3 cup chopped onion
3 cans chicken broth (14 1/2 oz. ea.)
1 can cream of chicken soup
1/4 teaspoon pepper
8 oz. cream cheese, cubed
1/2 pound sliced bacon, cooked and
crumbled or 1 cup cubed pre-cooked ham
1/4 cups snipped chives
1. In a slow cooker, combine the first five ingredients. If using ham add this as well. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until potatoes are tender. Add cream cheese; stir until blended. Garnish with chives. If using bacon, garnish with bacon as well. Serve in bread bowls.
