It happened

We finally hit it.
THE stage.
I told my naive little self that it wouldn’t happen. MY baby will never grind my nipple between her gums. MY baby won’t need to be fed, sans TV to prevent the pop off, pop on technique every 5 seconds.
But lo and behold, it happened. I’m sure my chest will be much saggier and scarred for it later on. Gum grinding is bad enough. Heaven forbid she get an actual tooth any time soon!

How ironic that your last post was about your sweet tooth! Sympathies!

My oldest was the worst for this… and he wouldn’t ever take a bottle. So, I’d get sore and need a little break, but he would scream till the end of the world if he couldn’t nurse. I’m sorry you’re going through this. Not fun :S

Yes, that first bite was what determined when I began weaning. one nibble was all it took for me to decide that now was the time for a bottle.

Don’t hate me, but I’m going to tell you how envious I am of that stage. I got ripped off on the last baby - I had to take a Radioactive dose that made it so I couldn’t nurse her (for her health).

So, while I was able to nurse her for 5 weeks, I really miss not getting the whole experience - even the painful parts of it. The good news - you have a very smart baby who is very interested in the world around her. (will she let you read a book?)

Corrie - She will indeed! I love reading to her. She smiles at the pictures while trying to grab at them. It’s so fun!

Welcome to my world! :) It’s not so bad. In fact, I’ll be honest (and I should post about this), little #4 has learned not to bite me so much, and so nursing isn’t so bad anymore. You’ll probably get through it. If not, wean away!

Oh yes, Becca bit me a lot - which was quite a shock because Hannah never did very much (and Abby was weaned before she got any teeth). Becca would also do the pop on, pop off thing and she pretty much self-weaned at a year because she didn’t want to lie still any longer to eat. And she’s hardly stopped moving since… ;)

I hope she starts nursing better for you again! :)

The biting is painful, but it really is a very short phase. I’ve heard advice from people about how to deal with it, but nothing worked for either of my kids. With both it lasted maybe a day or two, so hang in there.

I remeber when Lindsay gave me a “lock jaw” and refused to let go. That only happened a couple times. Oh, but so painful.
Sorry you are going through this. I hope it doesn’t happen very often, and gets better for you.
