Totally Fabulous!
Christine from Are We There Yet thinks I’m totally fabulous. She writes:
” Summer from Summer’s Nook- She’s a new friend I’ve made who I’ve enjoyed reading her fun posts about her children. Her newest one Don’t Grow up to fast my Darling, really touched me, as I look at Lindsay and to my SURPRISE, she is sadly growing up fast, as I try and hold back the tears.
Thanks Christine for this fun award. I think you’re totally fabulous too!
Now, I am to pick 5 bloggers on whom to bestow this fun award. I hate having to narrow it down since all of you are fabulous but I’m going to pass this on to five bloggers who never fail to make me laugh out loud:
1. Jenny at Absolutely Bananas is pretty much always hysterical. And for that I think she is totally fabulous!
2. Marie at Memarie Lane. Oft times witty, sometimes sarcastic and always enjoyable.
3. Janine at Moving Mama is a great story teller and I’m sure it helps that her two kiddos are nearly always involved in those stories. She refers to them as Salty and Curly by the way, how fun and kooky is that?
4. Sheri at My Minivan Is Faster Than Yours. With a blog title like that you know it’s gonna be good.
5. Mama Zen from The Zen of Motherhood is a blogger I’m still getting to know but she’s already won me over with her wit and humor.

Don’t grow up too fast my darling
Angel Girl is now 5 1/2 months old. I can’t believe it.
I savored every second of her newborn age. I remember deeply inhaling her intoxicating newborn scent every time I held her close. I loved the feel of her floppy body, perfectly molded against my chest as she slept. I giggled at each grunt and squeak and toot she made as she awoke every morning, soaking her mattress in slobber as she desperately tried to latch onto her mattress.
And now all of that is gone.
Well, she still toots every morning while stretching. But the newborn smell is gone, she can push away from my chest when she doesn’t want to snuggle and she now wakes up quietly cooing to herself, amazed at each new day.
But though the newborn stage is gone, a new one has brought different joys.
I laugh whenever I see her pants on the floor, kicked off at some point while she was rolling around on the the carpet.
I beam with every attempt she makes to communicate with me. She stares intently into my eyes, slobbering as she babbles.
Her morning smile starts my day off happy every time, and I love that my attempts to tickle her are successful. There’s nothing like baby giggles.
I know soon enough she’ll be on to new things, and I’ll miss what she’s up to now.
Just the other morning as she greeted me for the day I picked her up and said, “You are heavier today!”
Though I said it with a smile, my heart felt a twinge of sadness and I found myself wishing I could will time to slow. I believe that concerning my children, I’ll be wondering for the rest of my life, “How did they grow up so fast?”

WFMW - Did you know you could freeze these?
For most of my young life I found myself often wasting things that I didn’t get around to using in time or simply because I was ignorant of the fact that they could be frozen. I have since learned that many things freeze and thaw well and here are just a few of them:
Bananas - I can’t tell you how many times I’ve planned on making banana bread and kept putting it off, only to find that the bananas were oozing and moldy. So now, when those bananas are perfectly overripe I peel the skin off, throw them in a freezer sturdy ziploc bag put them into the freezer. When I want to make bread I thaw them at room temperature. Another suggestion I’ve heard but haven’t tried is to first mash the bananas with a small amount of lemon juice and then freeze them in ziploc bags.
Egg Whites - When a recipe calls for yolks only, pour each egg white into individual cube sections in an ice cube tray. After they’re completely frozen you can pop the cubes out and store in the freezer in a marked ziploc bag. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator.
Avocados - You can freeze ripe avocados if you’re not going to be able to use them before they spoil. Mash the avocados with a fork, add a little lemon juice and fill a freezer sturdy ziploc bag, squeezing all the air out before sealing. Thaw in the refrigerator.
Cookie Dough Do you like to make your holiday cookies from scratch? Why not get an early start by making the dough and freezing it to bake for later? The best way to do this is to form the dough into a long tube shape and wrap it numerous times very tightly in plastic wrap to avoid freezer burn. Thaw in the refrigerator.
Muffin Batter - Tracy Michele shared this wonderful idea on WFMW a little over a month ago.
Freezing a variety of foods works for me.
