I succumbed

Everyone I know has been raving about a certain book series, so I figured I may as well see what the fuss was all about. I started reading Twilight yesterday morning and 498 pages later at 12:15 a.m. I finished it.
This book is considered fantasy, and fantasy is my favorite genre. This book also fits within the romance genre, something I was unaware of when I began reading but quickly realized. Modern romance novels are things I stay away from, yet I kept going. The characters were enchanting, their actions and motivations intriguing, the danger captivating. I obviously couldn’t put it down. It’s been a while since I wolfed down a 500 page or so book in less than 15 hours.
I’m definitely thirsting for more. *cue chuckles from those who have read it*

I haven’t given in yet, but I’m sure it’s only a matter of time. =)
I haven’t succumbed yet, but it’s on my list…as soon as the gazillion people in front of me at the library read it!
I’m so glad you loved it! As soon as I get this stupid thesis chapter done, I’m going to read the second one. I can’t wait!
I must be the only person who had some issues with the books. I enjoyed them, but there were some things that bugged me. I’ve read the first two, haven’t had time to read the third yet.
I have to say, though, the preface to the first book is probably the best I’ve ever read. What a way to hook you in.
i liked them. definitely teen lit but still a different story from the typical, for a change. i read the first two in three days and ended up buying the third since the hold line for the library copy was ridiculously long. my husband is now trudging through them, at my suggestion. poor guy. i’ve given him an out to quit if he wants but he says he’ll finish.
I KNOW, RIGHT??? The next two books are even better than the first! I felt Stephenie Meyer’s writing skills were much more refined in the next two books, especially in the dialogue arena.
And when you’re finished with New Moon and Eclipse you’ll be left with the rest of us drooling for book 4 which doesn’t come out until next fall.
…so then you’ll have no choice but to read the Uglies trilogy by Scott Westerfeld to tide you over. It’s every bit as good (although not at all similar).
Now that the obssession of the Twilight series is past, I often wonder “What was the big deal? Why was I so obssessed with it all?” But then I remember that they made me feel 17 years old again. I remember how it felt REAL. And I remember that when the 4th book comes out next year, I’ll be obssessing all over again.
I’m glad you liked it! Welcome to the club. :)
