Life with children
Does anyone know how long it takes for permanent marker to come off of skin? Because in the one minute time span I left Angel girl with Count Dooku to get a diaper the other day, I found him with a Sharpie and the beginnings of what might have been great art, drawn onto her head. It has now been three days and washing and time have not dimmed it’s obvious presence.

In other news, I forgot to mention on this post, the 4 rolls of Christmas wrapping paper I found yesterday morning, unrolled or crinkled beyond repair lying in my closet and in the boys room. I guess Santa can’t even use the pieces that weren’t destroyed if he’s doesn’t want to blow his cover.

Angel Girl, who was previously attached to mommy has recently become completely dependent on mommy. And it’s not in the, I’m so sad I’m not in your arms, puppy dog eyes kind of way. It’s in the, “You did not just put me down!!! I am so ticked!” kind of way. It’s in the, “I was happy in daddy’s arms until I saw you!!!!” kind of way. It’s in the, “I’m dragging myself across the floor towards you wailing with fury so pick me up already!!!” kind of way.
Hey, she knows what she wants. Food. That’s me. Come here Food!

There are the bad times, the really bad times and the downright ugly times. But eventually I can laugh about them all. Some things are much more funny in hindsight. And some things are funny in the moment and for no reason at all. Like Obi-Wan who is right this moment pounding on the toy guitar causing Angel girl to giggle uncontrollably, causing Obi-Wan to giggle uncontrollably. And mom is now giggling over their adorable little giggles. I love moments like these.

Hahaha, poor angel girl. You didn’t post a picture? I’ve found that rubbing alcohol takes permanent marker off the best. (Although I usually use it on toys, and Curious George’s hands, never tried it on a baby girl’s face. :P) Also, as far as Angel Girl, I wonder where she got her fiery personality from? Hee hee.
Oh yes, Becca was attached to me in the same way - but has recently started becoming addicted to Daddy. Not a problem except for when he has to leave and I’m left with a very unhappy little one…
About the marker… I would think a few days or maybe a week? We’ve been lucky with permanent marker (so far) but I did find out that highlighter will wash off fairly quickly. Good luck! :)
We need the giggles. We need them desperately.
Lindsay was like that with me too, and now when I’m holding her, all she wants is to be put “Down”.
Thanks for the giggles, they are definetly Catchy!!
The rubbing alcohol works or try hairspray, if it takes permanent marker stains out of white shirts, it should be able to take it out of anything, or any baby! Poor Angel girl!
Ah, love those moments… sigh… The longer I’m a Mother, the less I tend to freak about these moments, and just kind of move through them. But laughing every now and then helps. A lot.
Without the giggles, I think I’d cry more often!
I will put a hearty ditto on the rubbing alcohol working. And I know it works on children’s skin as I had to remove marker from one of our house guest’s faces this weekend.
Enjoy those giggles while you can. Doesn’t take long before those adorable little people become adorable (?) and sophisticated big people :-)
I’ve also heard baby oil works…but have no proof. Hope you have resolved the marker dilemna. :)
Oh the sharpies!! Good luck with that one. Try baby wipes, although I don’t know if anything gets that off.
giggle, giggle - and now I am giggling uncontrollably. I don’t know about the Sharpie - they are somethin’ else! See ya.
I live for those giggly moments! I don’t know what I would do without them!!
A picture, yes, a picture. (Oh and the baby wipes take off lits of things).
I know baking soda takes permanent marker off of a lot of things but probably wouldn’t feel too good. An artist, huh? :)
LOVEEEE this post and you have so many fans!!!!!
Is Angelgirl about 9 months old? That’s about when the clignon stage begins. The screaming”NO WANT DADDY! WANT MAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Use the sling to help out your back and arms. Hugs
One of my boys permanent markered his little brother when he was a baby. I remember trying to get it off for a week. I want to say I finally used rubbing alchohol and that took it off.
I love the giggles too. There is nothing better.

Yikes, permanent markers! I would think that maybe Witch Hazel or rubbing alcohol might take it off sooner…otherwise methinks it will be on there a while!
I love the giggles too…you can’t help but join in!
I know what you mean! I love it when my girls play nicely together no matter how much noise they’re making!
I asked my neighbor with 5 children about the marker. She has had success with baby wipes. Hope it helps.
