Kid Speak #7

“Mom, did you just hear dat fart when I was going pee pee?”

I blink rapidly and look at my five year old son before answering.

“No, I did not have that pleasure” I say with sarcasm.

“Well, it just went like, POP!!” he says with a clap of the hands

“Fascinating,” I reply

“Oh, and duh Mickey Mouse Club house is like yellow and red,” he adds before traipsing off.

Random and frequently involving bodily functions; those are the extent of my daytime conversations. And I wonder why I feel so brain dead most of the time.

Reading List 2007

Well, the first part of 2007 was spent pregnant and miserable. I don’t think I read one book (other than kids books) my entire last pregnancy. I mainly crawled around the house trying to clean it up or sat in the recliner dozing at all times of day. So my reading began in May and has still been fairly sparse . I don’t think I’ve ever read so little in a year. But here are the books I managed to read in 2007:

The Queen’s Soprano by Carol Dines - I actually started and finished this one yesterday. It’s well written and very engrossing but has a shocking and sad ending. I don’t plan on reading it again.

The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau - A captivating young readers book. Read this one on the 30th all in one day. I loved it and will be checking out the sequel soon.

Wuthering Heights by Charlotte Bronte - Always a favorite no matter how many tiems I read it.

The Chosen by Chaim Potok - Another great over and over read.

Voyage of Midnight by Michele Torrey - An interesting sea adventure.

Castaways of the Flying Dutchman by Brian Jacques - I’m a huge fan of the Redwall series and was pleased when Jacques did not disappoint trying a different type of story. This is one I want to read to my boys.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling - GREAT!

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer - A captivating, vampire love story to indulge your leftover giddy schoolgirl senses. Have loved all three of her books.

New Moon by Stephanie Meyer

Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer

The Naming by Allison Croggon - I picked up this book not knowing anything about it at the library one day. The cover and title caught my interest and I brought it home. I was hooked from the first page, drawn into a fantastic fantasy adventure with very real characters acting in very real ways. I LOVE this book and if you love fantasy you need to read this and those that follow. The fourth and last book will be released this year sometime and I can’t wait. But first I have to read the third one titled The Crow.

The Riddle by Allison Croggon

Some of the books I already have planned for 2008 are The Crow by Allison Croggon, The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins, The People of Sparks by Jeanne DuPrau, Curious by Nature by Candace Savage and of course whatever else catches my fancy along the way.
