7 Truths and 1 Lie, Answer Revealed
April 8, 2008 by Summer
Alright, for those of you who wondered about the lie in the April Fool’s Day post, here we go:
1. When I was very young, 4 or 5, one of our neighbors became upset about something and sent me home. Evidently I was worried for her so I picked her some flowers and took them to her to cheer her up, all of my own accord. TRUE - I don’t remember it but my momma told me about it.
2. When I was about 4 my mom helped me learn how to do Somersaults. I was very proud of my newly acquired skill and I wanted my mom to do some with me, so I asked her, “Can you do MommySaults?” (Do you get it yet?)TRUE - I think I must have been a very cute kid.
3. My dad brought home so non-alcoholic beer when I was about 16 just for us kids to try. We each took a sip and promptly spit the nasty stuff out. My dad chuckled while we each declared we would never drink real beer ever. I still haven’t ever had a sip of anything alcoholic. TRUE
4. I was a social outcast for my early years. Painfully shy and determined not to be like other girls, a so called Tomboy. My only friends were boys and books. TRUE
5. I am a treat-aholic. I love to bake and eat sweets. My favorite dessert ever is a deep dish Cherry Pie. FALSE- Did I trick you? I do love to bake and eat sweets but I really don’t like Cherries, especially cooked.
6. I didn’t kiss a boy till I was 17. After that I only kissed one other guy and he is now my hubby. TRUE
7. I went to my 11th Grade Prom alone. I had it on good authority that a boy two years younger than me was planning to ask me and I didn’t want to go with him. He was super annoying to me in class and I was a bit immature so the very day I heard the rumor I made it known I already had a date. But I didn’t. Then I went to prom and told everyone my “date” had to cancel. TRUE - And those of you who said it must be false since I didn’t seem like the type of person who would do this, made me feel even more guilty.
I wouldn’t consider it now and I certainly regret it. I also felt very guilty about it at the time but I was more selfish then. Ah, the stupid things we do when we’re teenagers.
8. I won second place in the 8th grade spelling bee. The word I misspelled: Guard.
TRUE- Yeah, it’s pathetic that I mixed up the A and the U. But so it is, and I’ll forever knock myself over the head about it.
Now, seven more things you might not have known about me, courtesy of Liza
1. I love candles! I have a large collection of them that I like to rotate through. A nice smelling home is important to me. Especially to cover up the stench of baby diapers.
2. I like to dye my hair light orangey red. I haven’t done it recently but whenever I dye it that’s the color I go with. I’ve always wished I was born with the beautiful red hair all my aunts and uncles have.
3. I’ve always wanted to dye my hair purple or blue. But I haven’t dared to do it since I’ve become a “mature adult”
4. My favorite vegetable is corn on the cob. Corn is good anyway but it just tastes better on the cob
5. I do all the assembly work around here. Like putting our bookshelves together, putting the boys bunk bed together. Hubby doesn’t like to do it and I do. I like tools.
6. My favorite animals are Gorillas and Octopuses. I have a small stuffed gorilla collection and an even smaller octopus odds and ends collection (one octopus magnet & one octopus key chain). Why don’t they make more cute octopus stuff?
7. Christian Bale is my favorite actor. My favorite of his movies is Batman Begins. I also love him in Little Women. I can’t wait for The Dark Knight this Summer!

I used to dye my hair that color. Sometimes I see pictures of myself with that hair and think, “wow, that looked so good on me!” But I decided to be true to my real color, which is also very nice, just not as awe-inspiring as that gorgeous strawberry shade.
That was fun (and you had me fooled). My hair is decidely auburn right now - I like it.
I am with you on the cherries. I HATE them all.
Neat facts. And I’m right there with you about Christian Bale. Yummy…
You know… maybe it was better that you went alone to the Prom. I had a guy ask me that I didn’t like… and he was kind of ornery about it. Someone else told him that they were gonna ask me… so he hurried and asked me first. I accepted and then the guy I wanted to go with asked… I was so mad when I found out. So I sulked the entire dance. I didn’t talk very much and was just kinda pouty… now that? That was TERRIBLE. Still feel bad about it…
HahA! I’m so awesome! I thought I smelt a rat in the Cherry pie.
Thanks for the big ‘reveal’ - I was hoping we’d learn the truth one of these days!!! Good stuff…
Also liked your seven random facts…
I so enjoy your writing…have a great day!
I wondered about that one! Cherry pie is one of my least favourite pies…but I thought I was just transferring my own feelings so I didn’t pick that one. =P
I’m with you on the cherries. I love cherry cheesecake, I like the flavor of the syrupy stuff (and of course the cheesecake itself) but I can’t eat the cherries.
WHO KNEW on the hair color! I always wish I dared to go hot pink, but also feel too “adult” to be able to pull it off. Actually I really feel I could pull it off, it just wouldn’t fly too well with my professional life.
I’m with you on the yummy smelling house! Nothing creates a great atmosphere like a delicious home fragrance.
Oh I wondered about that one too!
I do our assembly work too - I enjoy it and Ron doesn’t.
That was fun.
I should’ve known about the Prom, since I had a terrible experience for my Prom as well! Darn it.
You did get me on #5 - I thought for sure you love to bake and cook and treats and such. That was pretty sneaky.
I love corn on the cob too, but my favorite veggie is probably zucchini.
I also do all (well, most of) the assembly at our house too. I’m a woman who loves tools, what can I say!? For Christmas a few years ago, Hubby actually got me a stud-finder (as if I need one! hahaha - I’ve already found my stud!!), and an electric leveler. It was pretty cool.
He’s awesome like that.
Fun fact lists. Thanks for sharing!
Aww dang it. I thought the cherry pie sounded weird, but I decided to go with the one that no one had picked.
When we’re 80, let’s dye our hair blue. By then people will think we’re senile anyway.
PS I tagged you on my blog if you would like to play along.
Don’t feel too bad about the high school prom thing. I dumped my first boyfriend because he always wrote willn’t instead of won’t and because his hands were too boxy for me. Hello? The gal that got him is very lucky, he’s a good guy. That being said, I’ll keep my husband…I think I’m quite in love with him.
As for the purple hair, it’s still feasible, even at your age. I was a tad bit younger, but I wasn’t meaning to do it either. I was going for a red type color and it ended up a purple color instead. I’m color blind so I didn’t know the difference until I got to work and everyone was telling me. I thought for sure I was going to get sent home…instead my boss told me it was absolutely awesome!
Christian Bale…ahhhh! I don’t think I’ve seen him anything but Newsies, but I absolutely adore him in Newsies. I think I’ll have to annoy my husband tonight and watch it.
You tricked me. I remember the teenage years though and they were tough so do not feel guilty at all. I still think your awesome and even more now than before cuz I totally relate to you. I HATE cooked cherries! I love my hair red. I’ve wanted to do purple before, maybe when I’m grey! I assemble everything around here. Hubby cusses too much and doesn’t get the picture instructions. Fun facts. Thanks for sharing!
