Wanna pay for my web hosting service?
This post is partly in response to an email one of my readers sent me.
I haven’t done any advertisements on this site but I’m going to make an exception on this one, because if three of you sign up with SiteGround by clicking the banner below, then I get a free year of hosting. That? Would be very nice for me.
I’ve only been with SiteGround for two days, but really I’m hooked. Here’s why:
1. The price. They have a $5.95 a month package with free wordpress installation. The only downside is that you don’t pay by the month, you pay by the year. But I actually haven’t seen any other web hosting sites that let you do otherwise.
2. They offer SUPER easy Wordpress 2.5 installation. Like, you click twice and it’s installed for you.
3. They seriously offer hundreds of step by step picture guided tutorials for anything you can think of.
Like if you want to change wordpress themes, how to upload and access files, etc.
4. You can also host your own domain name on siteground (additional fee) and pay for id protection so people can’t look up your personal information on WHOIS.
I’ve found it very easy to navigate and very straight forward.
So, I’m just thrilled to finally be on my own server and off of wordpress.com. Now I can really get my design tweaked. Before, I could only change the header and background colors and could only use the theme options provided there. Now I can download free themes from anywhere off the web or even create my own or pay some to make a design for me (3 column here I come). I still have many of the great features wordpress.com provides and now I have access to even more. I can finally add certain badges and widgets I couldn’t before because wordpress.com strips out javascript.
So yeah - sign up by clicking on the banner above. I know you want too. :)

I totally would sign up if I didn’t already get my hosting for free through my hubby! That sounds like an awesome deal. :)
This sounds so EASY! My brother is giving me free hosting, but the simplicity of this site makes it enticing. Was it really that easy to switch everything over? Did it transfer without any glitches?
Yeah, no glitches at all. I exported my wordpress.com files in one easy step. And uploaded them all to Wordpress 2.5 in one easy step. Everything was over here within minutes. Installation of wordpress 2.5 only took a minute or two. It was fantastic!
Woohoo! Thanks for the awesome hook-up! I know that you started blogging on wordpress right after me now I am going to follow you over to the next place. Thanks!
I love your new design! Its so cute!
Summer, I love the new look. I am so clueless when it comes to the internet. I stick with blogger because I like the idiotproof-ness of it. I tried wordpress. There was something that I really liked about it, I don’t know what, but I couldn’t get it to do the things like blogger, so I switched back. I’m intrigued by this though, only because I’d like to get off blogger and figure out how to go back to public but avoid my in-laws. So, while I love love love your new look and page, you’ll have to clue me in a little more on this world of wordpress. Honestly, to me it’s all just a blog page and blogger is free. I’m easily swayed though, especially because your page looks so great, so compare the two or give me more information so that I get it.
Thanks for your comment Laurie. I think I’ll put together a post about why I like wordpress better than blogger.
I can’t wait to read the post about wordpress v. blogger! One of these days I’ve got to change something! I love your new look!
I want to do it but I am so SCARED!!!! Please help me get through the phobia. I’ve thought of “upgrading” so many times, but I worry it will take too much time! HELP!
Thanks for the information.
Hi Summer,
I was looking into SiteGround as a potential host for my new business website (www.i-Vie.net) when I came across your blog.
I’ve since decided to go with SiteGround, so I signed up using the link you provided above. Just wanted to let you know…you’re one step closer to a year of free web hosting!
Cheers,
Shaun Scovil
