School’s out

That means Count Dooku is home for a while. That means I need to get a little more creative in what we do every day, because Count Dooku is a rather high maintenance kid. He likes to be entertained, by everyone but himself most of the time. I also know that you all have some great ideas because, hey, my comments have pretty much died within the last three days so you must be off doing something fun with your kids. What is it?

We’ll be heading to the pool whenever Angel Girl is better. She’s had a fever the last three days and her body is covered in red spots. They’re not bumps, just spots and they don’t seem to me like chicken pocks but I have to wonder because Hubby had the Shingle’s last week. Luckily he only had them on his inner thigh (weird huh) but they were still very painful. Anyway, if they’re not pocks then what is going on with her? Any ideas?

We’ve had a measles outbreak in Washington State, so be careful.

Heat rash from the fever? Some viruses include fever and mild rash so that could be it as well. Rashes always worry me, but my girls are so prone because of their fair skin I’ve had chill a bit. Still.

I feel like I’m flailing around a bit these days with not enough activities to entertain my kids with. I almost hate to admit it, but we’ve been on sort of a Mario Kart Wii binge for the last few days, just avoiding the heat.

As for the fever and spots, around 1.5 years old, our little guy had a virus that started out with a couple days of high fever and sleepiness, followed by breaking out in spots (not blisters) all over his body, about the same time the fever started breaking. If memory serves me right, I think it was Roseola.

I worry more about finding healthy things to FEED the masses, then I do keeping them entertained. Any ideas for me there?

My daughter and one son have impentaigo…spelled wrong there…and it’s beautiful! But a fever with spots…I could be anything. consider calling in a professional.

Rash? I’m not sure. I haven’t run into anything but eczema. (did I just spell that right?)

As far as stuff to do? I was gone today doing things:
We went to the library and the store, and then we walked to the park. It’s over a mile away, and we totally walked there and back. My kids weren’t too happy on the way home, but the walk was delightful going there.
Also, I’ve planned activities for every day:
Mon-Chore Day
Tues-Library Day
Wed-Craft Day
Thurs-Museum Day
Friday-Hike Day
It’s not perfect, but so far it’s been working well. My kids haven’t been bored yet (going on two weeks!), so that’s a plus!
Good luck!
(and I hope you figure out the rash, soon!)

Strep rash? HSP - but that looks like mosquito bites and then turns into bruises.

Stuff to do? - check out Rocks in my Dryer’s last Works for me Wednesday post. There were lots of ideas on there, but my favorite one is to let the kids ‘paint’ the porch with a brush and some water.

Ugh, I’m going to be in a similar situation in a couple of weeks because Abby is that way too, with needing to constantly be entertained. And lately she and Hannah have been fighting like crazy too.

One thing we’re going to do is take advantage of the free ’supervised playground’ program that our local Community Ed. does through the schools - it gives the kids a chance to get out and do some fun stuff - and did I mention that it’s free! I don’t know if you have anything like that near you, but it’s worth looking into. Other than that, I think we’ll probably be haunting the local parks, the library and hanging around outside as much as possible.

We’ve done the paint with water on the porch thing too - and I also let the girls use watercolor paints as well, because it all washes off when it rains anyway. :)

I think with the shingles episode…I’d have Angel Girl checked out…just to be sure. What do we do for fun…I’d tell you if I had any time to have any!!!

Hope those bumps go away soon! If it were here, I might consider fly maggots, but probably not there . . .

I’m looking forward to hearing what exciting entertainment plans you have going for the summer! I’m about to try making homemade fingerpaints soon - my baby loves painting, so we’ll make a field day of it. It should keep her occupied for 10 minutes or so.
