Your fragrance is your most powerful accessory.

I’m so exited to bring you this next giveaway. A long time ago, when I was about 13 I had a good friend named McKenna Gordon. We were both rather entrepreneurial and played around with many business ideas. We both crocheted and decided we were going to start a crochet business. We even came up with a name, The Crafty Co-op. Well, McKenna ended up moving away soon after and with that went our business aspirations and our friendship. We lost contact and I hadn’t seen or heard anything of McKenna until about 7 months ago, when lo and behold I found her mother’s blog. Who knew the internet could be so small? It was great getting back in touch with McKenna through email and through reading her own blog and pretty soon I found out that McKenna’s entrepreneurial ideas had only flourished throughout the years. You see, McKenna started her own business. A business that is, I think, really going to go places and has already expanded greatly, because of its totally unique and awesome concept.

If you love fragrance, if you love hypoallergenic fragrance, if you love value, this company is one you’ll want to look into.

“McKenna searched for a way to help others enjoy fragrances in a new simple way - to blend scents into a signature fragrance that is unique to each person, a scent they love, but only they can wear. ” Urban Botanic Story

That’s right, your own fragrance. One that you design. The concept is fun and unique, and McKenna is expanding this idea into other areas of her business, with the introduction of the UB Home Collection. McKenna wrote to me about the awesome advantages to using the UB Home Collection of fragrances above candles and other home fragrances.

1. Being able to control the strength of your fragrance.

“Experience a richer fragrance than any candle - you can completely control the strength. Some like a barely detectable scent: just add a drop or two of fragrance to your Warmer… Others (like me) can’t get enough…and want the neighbor across the street to be able to smell my living room.”

2. The UB Home Collection is a much safer alternative than traditional candles and fragrances.

“Everyone by now knows that candle wicks are a scary thing. Lead wicks have now been banned in lieu of zinc wicks, but a lot of people don’t realize that zinc wicks, when burned, emit a chemical very similar to lead; almost as harmful. A lot of companies have come out with “wickless” candles, where you burn a chunk of scented wax with no wick and no flame. That’s great because there’s no fire hazard, but think about this for a minute: if your chunk of wax starts out “yay big” and after 5 hours of burning is only “wee small” - where did it all go?…It is now the air that we breathe. Chemicals found in almost all candle waxes…are harmful to the environment and to our health. If you know someone who is allergic to “scents” it’s probably not the fragrance itself they’re allergic to. In almost all cases, they’re allergic to the chemicals that are found alongside a fragrance…but the SCENT is the most “tangible” thing to us, so we assign the allergy to the scent. People who are allergic to scents can use our products!”

3. Change your scent as often as you change your mind. Choose from a 3 oil home collection or a 6 oil home collection. Each collection comes with 3 or 6 oils that can compliment each other or smell great alone.

“In the mood for an Apple Pie scent? Try a drop of Apple and a drop of Cinnamon. Just love Gardenia? Use it by itself. You can get so creative and there are many combinations that can be put together within each Home Collection.”

4. Excellent Value

“The value is pretty freaky. Your typical extra large jar candle is $25 - $35. Candle companies claim this size candle will burn for 110 hours. One bottle of our fragrance is $13.50 and will scent your home for up to 1,300 hours. Depending on how strong you like your scent, that’s 10 - 20 times cheaper than any candle.”

McKenna wants to give one lucky commenter a UB 3 Oil Home Collection, retail value $49.95, for FREE. The Home Collection includes a fragrance warmer and the winners choice of one of the following fragrance collections:

* “Sunshine & Pomegranate” - comes with Mandarin, Grapefruit, and
Pomegranate scented oils.

* “Maui Pear” - Pina Colada, Coconut and Pear scented oils.

* “German Chocolate Cake” - Chocolate, Brown Sugar and Coconut scented oils.

* “Skinny Dip” - Honeydew Melon, Cucumber and Juniper scented oils.

* “Almond Cookie” - Almond, Maple Spice and Coconut scented oils.

* “White Linen” - Freesia, Green Tea and Waterlily scented oils.

Here’s what you need to do to enter:

3. Giveaway is open to residents of the U.S. only.

This is great for a person like me who has TONS of allergies…Especially to flowers! So I love the fact that the “perfume oils are made from the most natural ingredients possible to avoid skin sensitivities and fragrance allergies.” This is def for me!

Ok…to the combos you listed…Oh wow, German Chocolate Cake! Really? I think that I would be trying to lick the air! Plus when guests come over they are sure to think I had been baking all morning without a thing to show for it. ; )

CathyJune 27th, 2008 at 2:10 pm

this is probably my favorite collection from the above * “Maui Pear” - Pina Colada, Coconut and Pear scented oils. I love that whole island smells, the coconut smell at the beach during the summer lol i love it. I think it’s a great idea that they let you come up with your own fragrance and I love Parfum spray, the others I don’t use as much as that. Just spray spray spray and off to work. Great products!

I Love the fact that these scents are tailor fit. I took the personality scent test and it brewed up a Leafy concoction for me. How very unique; I don’t usually like things simply because the masses do but this is so individual. I love it.
My favorite scent from up there is the German Chocolate. If I can’t eat it, at least I can smell it and I am imagining that they smell marvelous!

I love the personality test that gives you an inside to YOUR scents. I think it was dead on! I love Sandalwood, and that was one of my personality smells.

My favorite from the choices above would be Almond Cookie. Yum!

Thanks for yet another great giveaway!

My favorite fragrance collection would probably be the Maui Pear. I love me some Pina Colada and Coconut!

And I think the bubble bath would be the first thing I would buy - I love to relax at the end of the day in a warm, therapeutic bath with a good book.

What a wonderful idea! So glad you found your friend again. :-)

KarynJune 27th, 2008 at 2:22 pm

WOW! What a great concept. Congratulations to your friend and to you reconnecting.

I took the personality test, pretty cool.

The concept I like the best is creating your own scent.

Above, I like the White Linen set.

Thanks. I’m bookmarking this site

Kam AJune 27th, 2008 at 2:23 pm

What wonderful products! After looking at the site I think that the bubble bath would be my favorite product! I especially love that it doesn’t leave a grimey ring around the tub and that the bubbles can be “recharged.”

For my favorite scent listed that is a very hard choice. If I had to chose one I think it would be “German Chocolate Cake” - Chocolate, Brown Sugar and Coconut scented oils. I love how it smells when I am baking (which is not very often) and this is how great I imagine them smelling!

Mama ZenJune 27th, 2008 at 2:33 pm

The bubble bath that “recharges” sounds awesome!

The German Chocolate Cake sounds divine!

What a wonderful site. I really love the whole UB Home Collection concept. That is just so cool. I don’t like to use candles with the fake scents and a natural alternative is right up my alley.

As far as scents, I like the “Sunshine & Pomegranate” , “German Chocolate Cake”, and the “Skinny Dip.”

Memarie LaneJune 27th, 2008 at 2:42 pm

I’ve been visiting Kenna’s blog for awhile, didn’t realize you knew her or that she had a business or that her name is actually McKenna. :P It’s such a nice site. According to the quiz I should go with fruity, so probably sunshine and pomegranate for me.

I love that you can customize your fragrances and that the perfume oils are pure, undiluted, and high quality. And the candles last so long!

I instantly knew Maui Pear would be my favorite.

GinnyJune 27th, 2008 at 3:21 pm

I really like the idea of wearing personalized scents. I haven’t really worn perfume in awhile because of head aches, but I think these wouldn’t bother me. I especially think I’d love the Skinny Dip!

I’ve never been big on scented body products, but I *love* the concept for home fragrance. I’ve had a few scary experiences with lighting candles indoors, and I don’t like the chemicals or product designs associated with a lot of non-candle options out there. I think I would absolutely love the home fragrance that Urban Botanic does, though - just a simple, sleek warmer with a few drops of oil!! - it sounds perfect for my family!

Of the combinations listed in your post, I’m most drawn towards “Skinny Dip”, because I’ve *always* loved fresh smells like melon and cucumber. Juniper would be an interesting twist. Although I think “Sunshine & Pomegranate” comes in a very close second! I’d have to smell them both to know for sure which one I would love most.

I wish I could smell these through my computer! Smell-o-vision baby!

I think the almond cookie sounds divine. But I would also choose the sugar and spice collection for a fragrance warmer! Fabulous!

ChristinaJune 27th, 2008 at 3:32 pm

I like that she has a personality test to help you determine which scents you might prefer. *I* would prefer the White Linen scent.

HeffalumpJune 27th, 2008 at 3:43 pm

I like the idea of putting together your own combinations of scents. That way you can change things according to your mood and you can experiment to find things you like.
My favorite collection in the list you gave is probably white linen.

KristiniaJune 27th, 2008 at 4:02 pm

We like the personality test concept at Urban Botanic because I wouldn’t know where to start on creating my own fragrance! I do like Violet though and I saw that was one of their fragrances!

As for the collections above: Skinny Dipp, I love how refreshing cucumber and honey dew can be!

From Urban Botanic I really like the idea that you can create your own fragrance but the personality test would be the easiest way I think for us to figure one out ,LOL! Also violet sounds nice!

Of the combos which sounds most appealing would be:
Skinny Dipp, we are really into light smells.

Wow! What a fabulous idea! I love that the shower gel is unscented and you can scent it yourself or leave it unscented! What a really great idea! That has to be my favorite thing. I’m sensitive to scents, so the fact I can pick is awesome! My favorite of the ones from above would have to be the Sunshine and Pomegranate. That sounds wonderful! Thanks for the opportunity to enter into so many contests! I love your blog! :)

Ugh- I keep losing my internet connection, so my whole comment didn’t come through! I was saying that I love the fact that the scents can be personalized so that it would be complimentary specifically for you and also it’s great that no one else would have the same scent! My favorite from the collections you listed would be the Sunshine & Pomegranate.
