Getting caught up

JOYS
1. I love an awesome thunder, lightning and rain storm. I seriously hope I die getting struck by lightning, later in life of course. The awesome power of a good storm always thrills me.

2. Learning something new. I just love teaching myself new things.

3. My family. Sounds so cliche right? But becoming a mother has brought me the greatest joy I’ve ever known.

FEARS
1. That I won’t always be able to protect my children from their poor decisions. I know it has to be that way if they’ll grow and become better, but I wish that day would never come.

2. That I won’t get everything I want to accomplish done before I die.

3. Being overcome by panic and depression at some future point. I know I’m never out of the dark on this one, but I hope it never gets so bad again.

GOALS
1. To learn as much as I possibly can before I die

2. To teach my children the best I can and not count myself a failure when/if they make their own choice to go astray someday.

3. To publish a novel

OBSESSIONS/COLLECTIONS
1. I love collecting coins/bills. I don’t know what is worth what or anything like that. I just like foreign coins or bills or super old ones. The oldest coins I’ve found so far are a 1928 Buffalo Nickel and a 1924 Wheat Penny. I also have a 1934 silver certificate.

2. I am obsessed with anything old/antique. I walk into an antique shop and just feel this reverence wash over me. I don’t know why but it’s always been this way. Old documents especially, oh, just looking at an amazingly beautiful piece of preserved history makes me tear up. I guess it’s fitting that I love genealogy so much.

3. I love to collect little souvenirs from places I’ve been. I have a cuckoo clock from the Black Forest in Germany, a hand whittled whistle from Switzerland, shot glasses and magnets from many different locations, etc.

RANDOM, SURPRISING FACTS ABOUT ME
Hmmm, is there anything I haven’t let hang out here on this blog? Let’s see…

1. I love all things slimy and slithery. I use to find snails and catch frogs as a kid. I still love them. Oh and someday I want to get a pet snake.

2. I am a highly musical person. I use to sing duets and trios with my mom and sisters in church. I currently play the piano and in the past I have played clarinet, tenor saxophone and alto saxophone.

3. I love nearly all creatures, but there is one that gives me the heebie jeebies. The moth. Too many memories of dead moths tangled in my hair each morning after a night of camping I suppose.
