My sister must really like me!
Isn’t it wonderful when someone does something absolutely unexpected and nice? My sister did such a thing while I was out in Utah. If you’ve read my blog long you know I’ve been an avid Nintendo gamer for a long time. I remember watching some teenage boys demo Mario Brothers in a store when I was 7 years old. They were debating amongst themselves about whether or not Mario would die if he jumped in the water. I smugly told them he would. I thought I was hot stuff, knowing more than those teenagers. Anyhow, I’ve been very happy with my SNES for a number of years now, but I couldn’t help but greatly desire a Wii. With a Wii I could play all the new games and download the classics. But it has not been within the budget. I think I moaned to my sister once, a long time ago with absolutely no thought that she might want to do something about it. She announced to me one day a few weeks ago that, armed with her employee discount she had purchased a Wii just for me and that I could make small payments to her for it!! Happy happy joy joy!!
So we brought the little beauty home with us on the airplane and have been enjoying it ever since. Everybody usually has something fun they like to do for down time. Gaming is definitely one of mine.
What do you like to do for down time?
You need to stop and smell the flowers and stop bashing yourself into a wall....
We’ve put one away for Christmas. Tempting not to break open the box, but the kids will be so thrilled.

Yay for Wii!! And what a nice sister!! (MY sister-in-law called to share her excitement when she found and bought one on a whim, and didn’t even think to grab an extra one for us, even though we’d been looking for months!!)
You didn’t mention what games you have… just Wii Sports for now, or do you have any Mario games? We’ve got Mario Kart (definitely VERY fun!) and Mario Galaxy (my favorite Mario since Super Nintendo!). If you have/get Mario Kart, I’d love to trade friend codes with you so we can race online if you’re ever interested. I’ve just about completed Mario Galaxy (well, I’m working on unlocking Luigi, anyway…), but I think it might have contributed to some arthritis-like wrist problems for me. I need to work on my moderation when I sit down to play. ;)
Well I think that answers your question. I’ve always loved games during my down time, though lately I’ve been reading more books than playing games.

Our Wii used to overheat and shut down all the time. If that happens to yours, you can by a nifty little fan that helps keep it cool. No problems since!
We recently got Rock Band, and it’s been a great family activity. Even my youngest gets into the drums–and she’s getting pretty good, for a kindergartner!

I switch back and forth between reading and playing on the Wii. Lately it’s been reading, since my husband has been hogging the Wii.

You are so lucky. I so wish we could buy one, but it would take a massive chunk out of our monthly budget to purchase one. My brother and sister in law are getting one though so I will have to be content with that. Have fun wit it.
Reading and computer stuff… I too enjoy the Wii… we just downloaded Super Mario Brothers and Super Mario Brothers 3 for the Wii! SO MUCH FUN!!

That is so awesome! I too, am an avid video gamer. One time (a LONG time ago) at the mall they had Sonic the Hedgehog on the Genesis that anyone could play. I started playing and soon I had a huge group crowded around me because I was so good! I purposely died after that though, because I was uncomfortable with everyone staring at me. I love Nintendo though. I have a Gamecube that’s been collecting dust ever since my baby was born but I would love to have a Wii! It’s something that I dream about at night…

how fun! we love our wii. it has been the best purchase we’ve made in a long time. it’s the best party game..we have four paddles and nunchucks and never get tired of it when guests are over. plus, we’ve downloaded all the old games like pacman and mario brothers and excitebike. SO fun!! and what a cool sister you have!
