One more week

How hard is it to entertain three demanding children? Very. Am I exaggerating when I call all of them demanding? I only wish I were.

Count Dooku is often a thoughtful, well mannered, very intelligent 6 year old. He’s also often tenacious, bored with whatever he’s doing within 2 minutes, and so stubborn that I cave half the time to his constant pushing and prodding.

Obi Wan is often a snuggly, loving, sweet little 5 year old. He’s also often whiny, clingy and when he fights with his brother, he fights dirty.

Angel girl is often a smiley, babbling, adorable little 1 year old. She’s also often dramatic, easily upset and ear splittingly loud when angry or sad.

They’re all a mix of the enjoyable and the not so enjoyable. But of course I love them all wholeheartedly. I am not ashamed to admit however, that I am happy, nay, THRILLED that school starts on Monday. That means 7 hours with just one demanding child instead of 3 and one momma who appreciates her kids even more when she’s forgotten how frustrating they can be missed them all day long.

School has commenced! #1 started 2nd grade today, but #2 doesn’t go to Kindergarten until next week. Which is weird, but I’m anxiously awaiting September when #3 will start preschool, and so I’ll have only #4 with me twice a week.

I think it’s funny, but we (general term, here) are always so anxious to get the kids out of school and into summer, but by the time summer comes to an end, we can’t wait to send them back.

Good system, that. ;)

While sending Big Sis off to school the first day of kindergarten was a little bit emotional for me…I must now own that I do enjoy having only one very mischievous and energetic 2 year old at home to enjoy/corral/keep from death.

I know exactly what you mean. My kids’ ages may be off by about a year from yours, but all three can really get on my nerves, and fast, if they all decide to go bonkers at once. Thank goodness they usually have equally often sweet moments…

I can’t believe school is starting so soon. My summer has definitely gotten away from me. Do I get a re-do? But no matter, I hope you hang in there, and find some ways to enjoy the last few moments of insanity. :)

Phillipa is still a few months away from pre school, but I am so looking forward to it, just to have time to myself! I’m not wishing her tender years away, but I am looking forward to feeling more human and independant.

Hee, hee! It’s those additive effects that really getcha! ;) I think if I could keep mine in separate rooms they would be much mellower…

Oh yes - even after being completely thrilled to be home with my kids after years of work/daycare, I am SO very ready for school to start. We have almost 2 weeks yet to wait though. :(
