How I spent my birthday
Because I’m sure you’re all just dying to know.
I spent pretty much the whole first half of my special day recently, emptying every cupboard and drawer in my kitchen and piling the contents up on the table.
Why, you ask?
Why in anticipation of the exterminator of course. After brusquely opening the cupboard one morning and having a cockroach flung STRAIGHT INTO MY EYE, I decided they must die. I suppose the exterminator coming was as good a birthday present as any. Though it involved more work than I would have liked. And just so you know, admitting on here that we’ve got a little roach problem right now took more guts than I thought I had. I keep things very clean, I really do. I don’t know why roaches are invading my home. Some new tenant must have brought them in to the building.
Anyway, that’s pretty much what I did yesterday. So after all that was done I then put everything back. The hubby brought me home some baby back ribs and he made me some maple blonde brownies with vanilla ice cream and butter sauce. Absolutely SUPERB and the best way to end a birthday!

LOLOL! A cockroach flew straight into your eye?!!
I can vouch for Summer on the cleanliness of her house. She keeps it very tidy. Which means if her house can be invaded by creepy crawlies, anyone’s can. I’m not sure if that makes me feel better, or worse.
Mmmmm, ribs and blonde brownies ala mode! Sounds divine! Glad you had a good birthday!

Um, that sounds…. exasperatingly… adventurous??? Monotonous??? Necessary???
Anyway. Hope the exterm. makes everything better!
And I’m glad it ended on such a delicious note. ;-)

Ugh, so sorry. We had to do that, in our old apartment. Nasty things!! And having your cupboards completely emptied isn’t all that much better. Still…. hope the exterminator does the trick. Yuck yuck yuck! Nothing like having disgusting pests brought in by neighbors. (Interestingly, we never had another roach problem after a certain group of tenants moved out from next door.)
But that sounds like a great ol’ Birthday dinner and dessert!
Happy birthday, again. :)

That is no fun you have bugs, but I don’t blame you. That’s one of the “perks” of an apartment! :)

Happy Belated Birthday! Unfortunately, I can’t access your site from work, or I would’ve told you sooner!

Yeah, we had the same problem - ‘cept ours was those pesky beetles. EVERYWHERE. ALL. THE. TIME. Never had any issues until this year, and BAM they are all over the place! I hate bugs. YUCK!!
That dessert sounds AMAZING! =)

You had a birthday and I missed it. But don’t feel bad, I usually miss everyone’s birthday. I was at the zoo in the bat cave place they have and saw to fingernail size cockroaches on the wall above my head, just minding their own business…and they were right there and just so yucky and I immediately smelled flower scented RAID because that is what I used last time I saw cockroaches, but we were at the zoo and I didn’t have any.
Is this the dumbest comment ever?

I spent my last Birthday getting an eye exam! Walked around half the day with eyes so dialated I’m sure there was “talk”! Sorry about the roaches…I think it’s not cleanliness of your living space but whats inside your walls and happening next door. Yikes.
May you be bug free soon!
My mother in law once lived in a place with cockroaches….ewwww!!!!
Yikes!! Into your eye! I am sure I would have peed my pants, had a heart attack, and spontaneously combusted. haha My sister keeps a really clean home as well, and has had rats invade her home twice. Once, one jumped onto her shoulder when she opened the cupboard… the other time it was burrowing in her sock drawer. So… I believe you are keeping it clean, but that they are evil buggers!! I hope the extermination went well and you are over the shock but if you are not, I am a psych major and if you need any counseling… let me know! Love you! -Jenni

Your house always seems clean, which makes it SO maddening to deal with someone else’s infestation. Hope you get a house soon. Hope I get a house soon, for that matter. You’re a tough cookie!

Happiest belated birthday to you! Sorry to hear it was such a buggy day. Yuck! But it sounds like a perfect ending and really that’s all the matters right?
We had cockroaches in our first apartment! There was nothing I could do! I kept everything extremely clean (which was possible because we were newly married and had no children) and still…cockroaches everywhere! We finally had to move. I put all of our stuff in storage for months and we lived with my parents. When I unpacked after finally moving to a new place…there were dead roaches in every box!
I am praying that the bugs bug out of there for you fast!!!
