Children bring laughter…and embarrassment

First off, if you’re out there reading, please leave a comment for silly old me. Blogging around Christmas time is so depressing because comments are non existent. Is anybody out there? I live for comment love. Don’t you feel so sorry for me that you want to comment now? Ahem…

So last night the kids and I took a long flight into Denver CO and then a 1 hour flight on a different plane into Salt Lake City UT. The trip went surprisingly well. The children we’re all agreeable. I think it had something to do with the TV’s on the backs of their seats. If you’re flying with kids and you have Frontier airlines at your airport, use them! Anyway, as we were boarding our first flight Obi Wan and Count Dooku were directly behind me. As I looked back to make sure they were right on my tail I saw that Obi Wan had stopped. He had a big smile on his face and was waving to a pretty young Asian woman standing in her row. At that moment he said very loudly (the kid has no volume control), “Hi my girlfriend!” which caused immediate chuckling from the woman and her boyfriend. Only a second after that, while still waving at his ‘girlfriend’ he yelled out, “I WIKE GIRLS!!!!” Everybody in the plane heard that one and burst into laughter. I was laughing too but of course my face was bright red. I’m not raising a pimp I swear!!! He’s never said anything like that ever! What a way to start the flight though eh? Kids are great ice breakers.

So as I’m writing this now, we obviously made it safe and sound. I did have to wake Angel girl when we got to the SLC airport and she cried through the whole airport but at least we were off the plane before she was in a bad mood. We arrived at Grandma’s at 12:45 a.m. (2:45 our time) so we were exhausted and fell promptly to sleep. I’m excited to be here, but now I have a wedding cake to start making. The next few days will be very busy ones but I’m glad to be back with family again. I can’t wait till hubby joins us in a week!

Sure, I’ll comment. Anything to put off the grocery-list-making!!

;)

But seriously, glad you had a safe trip. I can’t imagine three kids in an airport without the hubby to help. I think it would be my version of a worst nightmare, you know? But I’m totally with you on Frontier - they’re AWESOME. On the same note, avoid Northwest like the plague. They don’t even give you a teeny little snack, *certainly* nothing as nice as TV’s!

Obi Wan… what a little cracker pot!! That’s just hilarious. What a time to try out such a phrase for the first time, huh?? Ahh, my face would have been just as red, I’m sure.

Good luck with the cake! I hope you have a fantastic time with your family.

You’re here! But I probably won’t see you because of crazy schedules and what-not. But if you have any down time AT ALL (say next week?), then you better let me know!

Good luck with the wedding stuff; I’m glad you made it safely!

Oh! And don’t worry about the comments thing. It’ll probably get worse in a week (I’m planning on a blogging break for at least 2 weeks myself), so don’t take it personally! We’re all Christmas prepping, too. :)

P.S. And even when I don’t comment, I’m still reading…

Hi, Summer,

I originally found you through your LDS genealogy blog (I think?). Anyway, I do read every post because I have your blog feed in Google Reader. I enjoy hearing about your adventures as a wife and mom (my kids are 18 and 14 1/2), and empathize with your challenges with OCD (I have a cousin, my husband has a niece, and my sister’s ex all have been diagnosed with it). I also am in awe of your digital design; you are extremely creative and talented.

Take care and enjoy your family this holiday season.

Definitely seems like everyone is MIA lately. Maybe a lot of people are taking bloggy breaks. I’m certainly tempted at the moment…

Welcome to the snow! Traveling with one is enough for me, but with three…you are amazing. I’m glad it was a good trip, but I can’t stand that 2 hour time adjustment, just to have to turn around and undo it. Have so much fun with your family and good luck with the cake. I know it will be fantastic. Merry Christmas!!

Ah, yes the out spoken truth! At least it didn’t involve body parts or functions! Remember to breath a bit during this great time in your familys’ lives. Best wishes.

Glad you got there safely, even with a bit of embarrassment. It could have been worse, I’m sure.

So nice that Angel girl slept. My little 2 year old screamed the whole to California - it was a looooooong flight. You are going to show us pics of the cake, right?

Too funny!!

Have a fun trip. We flew with our boys this last April and they did so well. I was so proud of them, and it’s nice knowing we can do it. (Affording it is another story!)

First off, Props to you for taking three kids on such a long journey all by yourself!! Second of all, You must post a picture of the cake if you are allowed to! Thirdly, kids really do say the darndest things, and I am a firm believer in that they teach themselves. Luckily he said something cute that made everyones flight!
Merry Christmas!

I love kids! You just never know what is going to come out of their mouths. Enjoy your vacation, and good luck with the cake. You better take a picture of the final project. I am excited to see it.

Oh what a hoot! It’s hard to know whether to be proud or embarrassed in such moments!

The comment lacking can be a bit disconcerting, eh? I’m kind of glad I’m taking a blogcation during the holidays - I don’t think my ego could take it!

I had never previously as to the reason of Christmas being why comments have dwindled till now. I gotta admit, I’ve been so busy I can’ keep up of late and I really needed tonight to just sit down and unwind with my blog reading catchup despite so many other things I could be doing.

Summer, I am finally back online and still catching up on all that I missed. But, I had to comment about how jealous I am that you are in good old SLC. Isn’t it great…hope you are enjoying all the snow you are getting! Enjoy the holidays and good luck on your cake…you don’t really need it since they are always beautiful. Happy Holidays! Love, Mindy Williams

Please find a second to post a picture of your wedding cake. I love being amazed by your mad cake skillz.

And props for taking a trip with all the kids. I think it’s hilarious that he has the “Asian Persuasion”. What a cute kid!
