Sticky Toffee Pudding

I get these urges sometimes, to make things I’ve never made before. It’s almost always an urge to make a baked good too. This time I made Sticky Toffee Pudding. I’ve been wanting to make it for well over a year, after I saw the Haagen Daaz ice cream flavor comptetion on Food Network. The winner was Sticky Toffee Pudding Ice Cream, and if you haven’t tried it yet, you’re missing out. I love it! And of course I thought the real thing would probably be even better.

I’m not sure why I took so long to make it. Here is what it looked like after it came out of the oven:

And here it is with Toffee sauce poured all over the top:

And oh my goodness, I died and went to heaven with that first bite. Sticky Toffee Pudding and Tres Leches cake are tied at my two favorite desserts of all time now.

Unfortunately I cannot provide the recipe as it is property of Cooks Illustrated BUT, (and I am doing this of my own accord) I highly recommend a cooks illustrated subscription if you haven’t got one. We have used many of their recipes and they’ve all turned out fantastic. It’s the one baking resource I turn to now for fabulous baked goods and my husband uses it for pretty much every meal he makes. It is well worth the money in my opinion.
